What we do:
Since its founding in 1996, Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard (HFHMV) has built 18 affordable homes for Islanders who are first time homeowners. Our homeowners earn less than 80% of the Island’s median income. Our homes are built with donated land, materials, and volunteer labor. We use no fossil fuels, and our homes are affordable in perpetuity.
HFHMV can claim as homeowners, teachers, town officials, tradespeople, financial service professionals and small business owners.
HFHMV collaborates and partners with other Island housing advocates and organizations. We actively collaborate with contractors to recycle building materials to use in new Habitat Homes we are building, or to resell homeowners, which helps us fund our organization. Over the years our efforts have helped recycle thousands of reusable building materials and keep tons of material out of the landfill and waste stream.
Where and When:
You may contact Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard at PO Box 1093, Vineyard Haven, MA 02568, or by calling 508 939 4573. You may also email us at [email protected].
Our Goal:
Everyone deserves decent affordable housing. We believe that through homeownership we build strength, stability, and self-reliance. We have a goal of completing a house (or more) each year. To that end, we need your support through donations of your time to volunteer, donations of materials, donations of land and money.
